A day in the sun!

This past week I was able to go out and take some more photos of my friends! We had a blast going on a field trip trying to find old places and crops! Stefanie, Keslie and I went one day together and we had so much fun looking for some old nasty places! We found some fields and we had to go and explore on them! We were laughing so hard because Keslie and I have a farm on facebook and we totally feel how farmers feel when they have to go and harvest and plow now!

For my graduation, my wonderful daddy and mom bought me a new lens for my camera! Its a 12-124mm F4! So much fun!!!! Here are two of my favorites that I took with it!!! Kayla and Greg are amazing models huh?!

Why I love Texas...

I just got back from Florida and BOY, it was fun!!! While I was there, I figured out that I never want to live anywhere else but Texas! Don't get me wrong...I really enjoy going to other places around the world but I just can't wait to get back to the West Texas where I have lived my whole life! The other day my friend, Mike, and I went exploring to try to find some really cool old nasty shacks! He already told me of a few that he has found and I had no clue of what kind of field trip he was taking me on! These are just a few reasons why I love Texas!

I know that cows are gross and dirty but aren't they cute! I have never been this close to a cow and I was able to take photos of some of them!

In Florida, you can't find old red barns anywhere! We have them everywhere you turn around!

SHACKS! In Florida, I saw only trees when we went driving! Trees are amazing but seeing old shacks are better...maybe because I love shooting them with my camera!

Mike took me off roading! It was so much fun! Most of the places we went, I know my little car wouldn't be able to live through it!

Florida is not known for Cactus!

Well....I could live without scorpions in Texas! This is a baby mama and she is carrying her babies on her back! Don't worry, Mike killed it for me!

Halfmann's General Store where you can go get drinks and food! (I loved the name because it's almost like Hoffman...)

In Texas, you can find some real good country men! Country men are different from city folks! They open your door for you, call you sug, and shoot guns!

Windmills are famous in Texas! Love them!

Izzy and Bianca are getting married in August and I am so excited for them! I have known Izzy for about 3-4 years now and he has been searching for that one perfect girl for a long time. He has had patience and he wasn't going to take any kind of girl to be his wife. When he met Bianca he knew that she was the one and he didn't wait long to ask her to be his wife. Aren't they cute together?

Life has been extremely busy for me!!!! 1. I started summer school and I will be done in 5 DAYS!!!! I will be done with school FOREVER in 5 days! (I will post some of my amazing paintings I have been doing in class shortly!) I graduate August 8th and you better come to my party! 2. I found a JOB! Its amazing! I work for Joni and Keith who are brother and sister at JoniKeithCo. The cutest little gift store in Lubbock. Located on 98th and Quaker. So far I have been making mosaic crosses everyday. (Will show photos very soon.) COME BUY ONE! You will love them. 3. I have been swimming a lot and so that has also slowed down the blogging a little. 4. I am in Midland right now and I am bored! That is why I am able to blog right now without photos. Sorry kids! 5. I am shooting an awesome engagement couple tomorrow and I am super pumped! Those photos will come shortly when I shoot them. 6. Here are my new scrap book pages that I did in my summer class! I had a blast and I still have 4 more to do!!!! Never ending fun!!!! School starts back up for me tomorrow and its my last one hopefully forever. I am taking a painting class. I'm excited. It ends at 12 and when I walk back to my car from class, I walk right by the new leisure pool that opened and so I am going to wear my swimsuit everyday to class...fun stuff huh?

Creative journaling

So, I am taking this three day summer online class with Molly Swanson and she is teaching us how to make a creative journal. This is what Molly says about it...

Paige+Braden

Paige and Braden are brother and sister! Paige really likes my photos of old shacks and the one I did of my friend, Tanner, a long time ago. It put me in a good mood because those are the photos I LOVE to do the most! So we went to all these crappy places in Lubbock. I found a long time ago this one shack that is so gross. We even found a bat egg...gross! So, we went there and it was so much fun!

So...all my bags are packed again and I just got back home today! I went to Midland this past week to see my mom for mothers day and to spend time with old friends! I had a blast. I saw some friends I haven't seen in over a year and my mom spoiled me rotten with new "interview" clothes! Very pretty...I might will have to model them for you soon!

Today has been a very busy day but enjoyable. I got to do a lot of things I love. I was able to cut out more fabric for aprons...(which I am still selling.) I went to an amazing coffee shop and have coffee with my friend Amy who is leaving in less than a month to do a mission trip around the world for 11 months! (http://amychristian.theworldrace.org/) I drove home from Midland while singing real loud to my music. I was able to edit some more amazing photos of Felicia and I went on another photo shoot for a brother and sister! Who can say they had a better day?! Now, its 11 o'clock at night and I finally get to eat and pack again to go to Dallas tomorrow morning at 6:45!!!!! I am going to the Rangers game tomorrow, Six Flags on Friday, and SHOPPING on Saturday! Sooooo pumped! I am still on a high from the photo shoot today and I wanted to give you a little sneak peak of Paige and Braden before I leave! Isn't Paige GORGEOUS?!

Whitney and I were so lonely at the end of the summer last year and we were praying that God would give us friends to hang out with! If you know either one of us, you will know that we love to be around people and we love to talk!!!! It gets kinda boring just hanging out with each other sometimes. We were going to try out new college church groups just to get to know people that are going through the same things we were. One day at church, our prayers were answered with 1. college pastors and 2. FRIENDS!
We have known Tanner (left), Justin (middle), and Austin (right) for almost a year and we have been so blessed to see them grow in Christ! I feel like a have three new brothers who will do anything for us!

Now, Justin just left us to go work for his dad. Austin is moving to Ft. Worth to pursue an amazing job, and Tanner is gone for the summer to work.
Whitney and I have to start all over again and its really sad! But I do know that every time that I pray, God answers!

Felicia

The other day I went out with Felicia to shoot some senior portraits! I have known her and her wonderful family for almost three years now and it has been a blessing getting to know them more and more each day! Felicia is graduating this year from high school and I am so proud of her! Her plans are to stay in Lubbock for a few month or so and then go into the Army! WOW! Brave girl!!!! I couldn't do it.

Mother/Daughter Banquet

I had my very first paid photo shoot the other day for the mother daughter banquet at my church!!!! Let me tell you...I was scared out of my wits having to do this shoot! What if my battery went out on me? What would happen if I had a huge group and I didn't know how to position them? What would happen if I went home and my flash card told me I had no pictures on it? What if I got the pictures developed and the color is all wrong and I had to send them back? And the most scary thing is what if no one likes my photos?!

Well...so far so good!!!! God has answered all my prayers and my pictures turned out great! Now I am just having to wait until they come in to see if they printed ok!!!! I sure hope so! I had a blast and my stress is almost over! Here is one I took on a timer of my Ginas!!!! (Whitney, Perla and me)

Mr. Cricket

So...I took photos of my last bug under the electron microscope and I actually did a project out of them! I took pictures of two crickets and these are my favorite ones I did.

This was my sculpture project!!! Gross huh? I loved it!!!!! My teacher told me that I needed to start thinking outside the "box" and this is what I thought of! I got a shadow box and bought live crickets and put them in the box so that when my critique was going on, I had crickets jumping! Some got out of the shadow box and so I nailed them onto the wall...I was thinking "outside" the box! Even a more gross story...the crickets that I nailed onto the wall were still alive and scurrying around when people got close! I got an "A".

My First Video Project

I had to do a video for my sculpture class that had to be about the environment...so my partner, Jessica, and I got into her truck and I recorded us going all around the loop in Lubbock! It takes 24 minutes to go the whole loop!!! We sped up the 24 minutes into 2.20 minutes! The correct length of a song and we changed the color!!! It was a lot of fun to work on and I learned how to edit a video! Don't laugh to hard...it was my first!

A Saturday Afternoon

On a Saturday afternoon, you might see me at the art building doing homework, or in Midland hanging out with friends and family, or just laying around doing nothing with church friends! So, yesterday afternoon I hung out with some of my close friends! Instead of doing homework, I went to the black and white football game (which is all the Texas Tech football players playing each other) and everyone came over to my place and we stayed outside talking and goofing around with a lasso and dummy! Here are my favorites....

Spring is in the air with the flowers blooming and the rain. I went home for Easter and I welcomed home by the flowers in the front yard! I can't wait to put flowers in our front yard! They always put a smile on my face!

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

So many people I have met believe the culture's lies regarding feminism and beauty. The feminist movement freed women in some ways but put them in bondage in others. The enemy would have us believe that what we see on television and in magazines defines real femininity and beauty. But it's all really a facade. Many glamorous actresses and models are extremely unhappy. Almost daily we hear of another celebrity's battle with alcohol or drug abuse or eating disorders-all results of buying into the enemy's agenda.

I want you to know that I was one of those women who let the enemy distract me from being who I was to being afraid that I will never met a guy who thought I was beautiful! I was one of those women who had an eating disorder and I made myself throw up every meal I had. It has almost been three years now that I have been freed from that bondage and let me tell you...it's hard not wanting to go into that bathroom and throw up everything when I ate way too much. It is hard to look into the mirror and say to myself "I am beautiful!" But I do know that if I didn't have God in my life and the friends and family their to tell me that I am beautiful, I wouldn't be where I am right now in life.

We've got to get our ideas of true femininity and beauty from God. That is the nly thing that can free us from the bondage of the enemy's lies. Only by seeking God can we truly experience intimacy with Him and others and understand our God-given purpose. We are called to be true women of God and to live the fullest life possible-as He designed us to be and to do.

So...next time you look in the mirror, picture God looking over your shoulder telling you...

Creepy Crawler

Creepy huh? For some weird reason bugs really fascinate me and I can't stop looking at them under an electron microscope! This one I like to call Mr. Tech. I found him when I was walking to my drawing class and so he went to class with me and helped me draw a bit. I can't figure out what it is and its not an ant! Any ideas?

Right now I have crickets in the freezer and so the next creepy crawlers you will see will be some crickets!!!!! Can't wait until they are dead! lol...is it bad that I like doing this?

So...I have noticed that my photos of old places looks ten times better than my people photos! I think it is because I am graduating with a fine arts degree and not a photo comm. degree! Yeah...if I knew when I started school that there was a difference between the two I would have chosen photo comm.! Hopefully ya'll understand what I mean! (I understand it in my head but I do not know how to say it in words! lol...) So, anyways I get more feedback from teachers on how to make my photos look better with the artsy part of shooting but not of the commercial side of it! So if you want to be the guinea pig, call me up and I will LOVE to shoot a few photos of you!

This past weekend I went out of town with four amazing guys, a nephew, and one girl. We all went to Colorado City to just get away from everything and spend time with Cary and Kents nanny! I wish I took a picture of Nanny, but I wasn't even thinking! Makes me sad but I will get one next time I go! What we did while we were their was go fishing (which none of us caught anything), shot a few guns in the backyard, watch the sunrise, go to the railtrade days (I think thats what its called), played cards, wrestled, and laughed a lot! So here are a few of my favorite pictures I took of the old places and who all went...

YES! Those are freaken bats! Funny story...Cary and I decided to go exploring in the old hotel and their was this one room that was pitched black. I was flashing my camera to see if their was anything exciting in it and I looked up and saw the bats! I screamed and ran out and never even took a photo! I made the guys go in and take one for me! Isn't it creepy to look at. I think they are photogenic. They all stared into the camera and smiled! haha...

Shawn...if you ask him to stop or do something, 99% chance he will say yes! So, I took advantage of him and asked if I could drive his amazing truck home and he said yes! I had fun driving it while he sat in the middle and Brian sat on the other side while we had the whole back sit open! They made me laugh the whole way home...

Kenny...amazing man of God! If you need to talk to someone, he is the one you need to go to. He knows the right thing to say at the right time. A good friend to have!!!!

Kennedy...Kenny's nephew. He's 8 and he is the funniest little guy I have ever meet. The things he says just made us laugh the whole time. Oh, and he's a strong little fella, he beat me in arm wrestling!!!! (He cheated.) By the end of the trip, he was a pro at shooting. He loved it.

Brian....oh Brian! Just look at him...who wouldn't want a piece of this redneck...lol! He is a hoot and he knows how to compliment you!

Cary...I think she has such an awesome name! Who wouldn't want it?!? She's Kent's cousin and she always had a smile on her face. It seems like she will do anything to just make you happy and I enjoyed getting to know her. She loves God with all her heart and it shines on her. Also...just look at her...you wouldn't think she could finish a whole chicken fried steak!!!! (She did!)

And Finally Kent...It was Kent and Cary's grandmas house and he was the one who invited me to go with all of them. I'm glad he did. He enjoys getting into serious conversations and he is a great listener! He loves to fish and if it was up to him, he would do it everyday to just get away from everything and go be with the Lord! He's a prayer warrior!

The four guys are all so different but they are all very good friends to each other. They help each other out in the difficult times and they all love the Lord with all their heart. Also girls....they are all single! You better hurry up and catch one of these guys before they all run out! lol...

You know when you pray and you pray and you pray a little more and you feel like nothing is ever is going to be answered? Well...don't worry! God knows exactly when to answer your prayers at the right time. I prayed and bugged my pastors for almost 3 years to bring in some college pastors for the us kids! FINALLY after almost giving up on the situation and going to find a college group, one day they tell me that something big is going to happen and my prayer is going to be answered. A month later here walks in Matt and Amanda Bullen! Its been only a few months but I already see a huge impact that they have on all of us! It's amazing to know that I have a new friend that I can call up anytime and know that she will be there for me praying by my side!
Amanda...thank you for everything you have already done in my life already and thank you for caring for us! I am truly happy that God placed you in my life.
Also one last thing...if you are 18-30 and you have that desire to get to know some amazing people and hear a person speak from his heart, come to Emerge! We meet on Tuesdays at 7ish and we have a blast!

Sunday Trap

One of my favorite days of the week is Sunday! I get to sleep in a little bit longer than I do during the week and I get to go to church! I absolutely love my church and the family that I have their! It seems like every time I get to go, my pastor always says the perfect thing that goes with what I am dealing with. When church is over, we usually stay and talk for at least 30 minutes. Than its time to go out and eat some lunch. By 2 its either time for a nap or if you feel like it, you can go and shoot some trap with the guys! So, instead of my nap last week I went shooting photos of the guys shooting trap!!! Here are a few of my favorite photos I took...

A day with Josh...

I ran into one of my old friends, Josh, at Roses the other day and he loves to go shooting all the time but has no one to go with him so we decided to go on a scavenger hunt yesterday to find old nasty houses with junk in them! Its one of my favorite things to do if you haven't noticed. It shocked Josh to see all the junk that people would leave behind like books, pianos, lamps, teddy bears, ect. We had a lot of fun but we both wished that there were more time during the day.

Perla

I was looking through all my photos the other day and I noticed that I don't have that many of my great friend Perla. So, I made her get dressed up for me and we went out shooting! There is never a dull moment with Perla! She is gorgeous from the inside out and I am so happy to say that she is my friend! She keeps me in track and makes me smile all the time. Amazing woman of God!

Purple is her favorite color and so we found this amazing bench in a neighborhood that had a purple cushion! We had fun!

Mr. Bug

So, I started this internship job and I absolutely love it! I have learned more during these two weeks than I have my whole college career! Everyone that works here are so sweet and loving. What I am doing is working with two photographers, Tonja and Neal, at the Health Science building in Lubbock. I am learning how to set up studio lights and make coffee. (I tried making coffee and I made hot water instead! They laughed at me.) One of the photographers, Neal, showed me how to take photos under a microscope! I found a cockroach under the desk and I had so much fun playing with it under the microscope! I know....its gross but aren't these photos really fun to look at? I want to do more but I haven't found any more bugs...

A few weeks ago when I went and took photos of Annelise and the old house, I also took photos of Laura in her beautiful wedding dress. She got married in June to Cody and I was the maid of honor! It was a pretty wedding and she decided she wanted to wear the dress one more time. So we got it out of the closet and took photos of her in it! Isn't she a beautiful bride?

My friend, Tanner, and I went driving around the outskirts of Lubbock this past weekend looking for places to take photos and we found this really awesome abandoned building. Tanner could not figure out why I was so fascinated about these ugly places and I told them that they have a lot more history in them then in the new houses. Like why did they leave a couch and chair in the house but took everything else?

So, as we were taking photos, the man who owned the old house drove up and started talking to us asking why people like this ugly house. He started telling us stories about it and why he left the place the way it is. It really made my day to meet this man. Now he is a millionaire in Lubbock, Tx!!! Crazy huh?

Annelise is turning the big 1!

I had a little bit of fun on Friday morning with Annelise! She is fixing to turn the big 1 year old and her mom and daddy wanted photos taking of her for her birthday and so they asked me to do a few shots. We had this great idea on giving her a cupcake to keep her happy and by the end it was all over the place! It was adorable!

She has the biggest brown eyes ever! I love them! If you look close enough, you can see us trying to make her laugh.

Sunflower

I feel like sunflowers are an amazing flower! It isn't just a pretty flower but it also gives us Sunflower oil that is a valued and healthy vegetable oil and sunflower seeds that are enjoyed as a healthy, tasty snack and nutritious ingredient to many foods. So, as I was driving home one evening I had to stop and take a few snapshots of the amazingly huge sunflowers! I think I would love to have a sunflower field in my backyard! Do you think I can grow one?

I have noticed with my life that I always say that I am going to start a devotion time when I am fixing to go to bed. So, when I crawl into bed, I tell to myself that I will start tomorrow and then the next day comes and I say the same thing over and over again! I have figured out that mornings, afternoons, and evenings aren't good times for me to have a quite time. I know, I know, you might tell me that I am a sinner, but I am not. About three weeks ago, I went to Mardels to get a few things and I came across this one book called Pure, a devotional. I thought to myself "yeah right, like I am going to finish this book!" I picked it up and bought it. I placed it in my bathroom of all places and guess what?!?! I am on day 15!!!! I guess God has a funny way of making us have our quite time with Him! So if you are like me and you keep telling yourself that you are too busy, put a book or the bible in the bathroom and see what happens! It might change your life!!!!

Last night I volunteered to take the photos at the Harvest Party at my church! All the photos I took of the little kids, my kids Pastor has it and so I can't show you all the cute costumes the little kids had! I had a lot of fun and when it was all over, I took photos of all the volunteers that helped with my camera!

I am going to have 3 photos hanging up at a coffee shop in November in Lubbock and I am way pumped up! They are of this bus that I found outside of Lubbock and I fell in love with the old thing! If you would like to see the other two photos, you will have to go to Sugar Browns during November. Sugar Browns is on 50th St between Slide and Quaker! Hopefully you will "UUUU" and "AWWW" at it. I still need to name it though....I was thinking "DUDE, Wheres my Bus!!" But my friends didn't like it so much....we'll see what happens!

Paper Dolls

For my project in one of my classes, we had to make something small look bigger then it looks. I started thinking about how much I loved playing with paper dolls when I was young. My grandma and I collected them. I have paper dolls that range from George Washington to George Bush, Shirley Temple to The Little Mermaid! I have around 100 different paper dolls and I love looking and playing with every single one of them. So I found a book at Barnes and Noble and I put the paper doll in front of the scene that looks like where it should be! It was a lot of fun to do and hopefully later on during the semester I can do more!

Today my dad turns the big 53!!! I can not imagine this world without him. He has done so much for me that its hard to give him something in return. I love him with my whole heart. Happy Birthday Daddy!

Senior Portrait-Kesia

A few weeks ago, Kesia called me up and wanted me to take her senior portraits of her. We had a blast going all around the west part of Lubbock. She is an amazing girl on fire for the Lord and her smile always brightens up my day! Isn't she beautiful? I hope you enjoy.

Womens Retreat

Hello everybody! I finally signed up for a blog and lets see if anyone will actually read my stories and look at my photos! I have many! Hopefully I will keep up with it and as the days go by, my photos will get better...

I just recently got back from a womens retreat this past weekend with my church! We met up with a few other churches also and all together there was about 1150 women who went. It was amazing. Lets just say that many women came back changed! Glorieta is beautiful. I mostly only have photos of Perla and Whitney who I hung out with the whole time! I wish I go more photos of all my sisters but I didn't! Oops...

We had a 5 hour break on Saturday and so Perla, Whitney and I went to Santa Fe to eat and walk around the square! It was pretty, but not as pretty as Texas!!!!

We had a blast trying on hats and looking dorky!!!!

Cynthia and Amy are sisters and they both work for my church. Amy just had a baby girl a year ago and Cynthia is fixing to get married! I am so excited for both of them. They are wonderful Women of God!
